Lesson three. Sphinx.

B'elena noticed a sudden change in Luna. Her eyes seemed darker for one thing. She listened to Eremus tell Luna about Egypt. It was quite surprising that his last female was ten thousand years ago. She decided to ask Eremus a question about somethung she had been thinking about. "Um.. Eremus, is it true thay Sphinxes are descended from the Ethopian ape?" She asked. She had read this in one of her muggle books. She hoped that this question wouldn't seem offensive or anything. While waiting for his reply, she tried to quiz herself on the Grrek word for Sphinx. Which was sphingein.

Luna looks down at Eremus, feeling interested in what he has to say. He seemed annoyed at the question. ''I am no where near the Ethiopian ape, child. You've read that from a muggle book, did you not? They are false.'' He says in a strong voice. ''The name Sphinx means sphíngein captivate = magical, strangle. We are a hybrid creatures of various ancient mythologies. Is an Ethiopian ape from ancient mythology? No. You did not cause offense though.'' He nods his head.

B'elena blushed. She listened to him speak about what sphingein meant. In muggle books, the definition was close as sphingein was strangled, and bind. She was glad though, that her question wasn't offensive.

Luna looks around and then back at Eremus who was looking at B'elena. He spoke after some silence. ''You got the definition right, young child. First thing muggles actually got right about our world. Good question though.'' He nods his head.
